GULFPORT, Mississippi — A Gulfport firefighter accused of shooting a guest in his home has been fired.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1NoCXVa) the fire department placed 54-year-old Scott Stuckey on suspended leave with pay after his Nov. 1 arrest. He is accused of shooting a house guest in a leg during an argument around the same time someone called Gulfport police to report a woman had been raped at his residence.
Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt said he could not comment on the termination because it's a personnel matter.
The decision to fire Stuckey was reached Monday afternoon.
He faces a charge of aggravated assault.
Stuckey was released from the Harrison County jail on a $25,000 bond shortly after his arrest.
Online jail records did not list an attorney for Stuckey.
