NEW ROCHELLE, New York — A.J. English scored 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and dished out 10 assists to lead Iona to a 74-58 victory over Fairfield on Tuesday night.

David Laury added 19 points for the Gaels (12-5, 5-1 Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference), who have won six of their last seven games. Schadrac Casimir finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

Fairfield controlled much of the first half, leading by as many as nine before Iona went on a 9-2 run late in the period, ultimately trimming its halftime deficit to just one.

The Gaels followed this up with a 24-9 stretch, capped by an English 3-pointer, midway through the second half that gave them a double-digit lead and put the game out of reach.

Mike Kirkland Jr. led the Stags (5-11, 3-3) with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Tyler Nelson added 15 points.
