RAPID CITY, South Dakota — A South Dakota man who fled from law enforcement after he was convicted of mistreating horses is now in a Rapid City jail.
The Rapid City Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1fK3fS8) that Don Harwood was booked into the jail Friday evening. He was arrested Wednesday on a farm near Canistota, in eastern South Dakota.
Harwood and his wife, Terri, were convicted in August on nine counts each of inhumane treatment of an animal. A warrant for Harwood's arrest was issued in October after he failed to turn himself in to begin a five-year jail sentence.
Terri Harwood is serving a one-year jail sentence on electronic monitoring.
