LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana — A group of business and industry leaders will host a community meeting for anyone interested in running for a Calcasieu Parish School Board seat in the Nov. 4 election.

Qualifying is Aug. 20-22.

The meeting, hosted by the Committee for Better Schools in Calcasieu Parish, is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the meeting room in the Parish Government Building.

Committee spokesman, Paul Bonin, tells The American Press (http://bit.ly/1kzezIv ) the meeting will cover how to organize and run a political campaign. Other topics will include the responsibilities of a School Board member, how to qualify for an election and learning about the voting districts within the parish.

Bonin says the committee was formed about three months ago after six of the 15 School Board members announced they would not seek re-election.
