ATLANTA — Republican Rep. Phil Gingrey has hired a new political strategist to help lead his campaign for Georgia's open U.S. Senate seat.
Gingrey spokeswoman Jen Talaber says the campaign has hired Cam Savage, who recently served as regional political director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Savage also managed the campaigns of Indiana Sen. Dan Coats and Rep. Todd Rokita.
On Monday, four top staffers left the Gingrey campaign citing differences of opinion. They included veteran GOP political consultant Chip Lake, who says he and the others made the decision after coming to a "crossroads in the campaign."
Also running in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate are Reps. Jack Kingston of Savannah and Paul Broun of Athens, former Secretary of State Karen Handel and former Dollar General CEO David Perdue.
