McALESTER, Oklahoma — Freedom was short-lived for a state prison inmate who escaped by walking away from a work detail.
Authorities told reporters that 51-year-old Mark Thompson was recaptured about 6 a.m. Saturday about one mile from the site where he apparently walked away from a work detail between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Department of Correction records show Thompson was serving a four-year sentence for a burglary conviction in Tulsa County as was scheduled for release in May 2017.
