DETROIT — Authorities say an armed man has surrendered after a half-day standoff at a house on Detroit's west side.

Police say the 54-year-old man had a shotgun and held police at bay until surrendering about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. They say he was involved in a domestic dispute.

Authorities say family members escaped from the home without injury.

Police say they were told the man may have mental health issues.
