Fireworks show back on in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri — The Fourth of July fireworks show is back on in Cape Girardeau.

The Southeast Missourian reports that Isle Casino Cape Girardeau on Tuesday donated $6,000 for the show, pushing donations to the $12,000 amount needed to fund it. The Southeast Missourian and Rust Communications chairman Gary Rust were revealed Tuesday as the source for the other $6,000.

The city stopped funding the fireworks show in 2009, citing budget constraints. A local veterans group had spearheaded the effort until announcing recently that it could no longer do so.
