BISMARCK, North Dakota — Officials with Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. are warning customers about a phone scam.
The company says people are receiving calls warning them that their utility service will be disconnected if they don't pay their bill immediately over the phone.
Officials say the company does not collect payment in that manner and asks anyone who receives such a call to report it at 1-800-638-3278.
Montana-Dakota Utilities serves about 135,000 electric customers and 245,000 natural gas customers in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.
