CORRECTION: Fatal Fire story


WHITLEY CITY, Kentucky — In a story Oct. 12 about a fatal house fire, The Associated Press, relying on information from the Kentucky State Police, reported erroneously the age and spelling of one of the victims' names. State police said Monday the child is 2-year-old Shaelynn N. Crabtree.

McCreary County house fire kills 2 adults, 2-year-old

WHITLEY CITY, Kentucky — Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at a residence in McCreary County, Kentucky, that killed three people.

Kentucky State Police received a call about a fire at the Whitley City residence around 5:42 a.m. on Sunday. When officials arrived, three people were found dead in the bedroom of the home.

They were: 52-year-old David D. Perkins, 48-year-old Lisa Y. Perkins and 2-year-old Shaelynn N. Crabtree, all of Whitley City. Investigators believe they died from smoke inhalation.

Authorities say they don't suspect foul play.
