JACKSONVILLE, Florida — It's unclear if Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew available for Sunday's game with the Buffalo Bills.
Jones-Drew, who rushed for his first 100-yard game of the 2013 season last Thursday against Houston, suffered a muscle strain in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Monday that Jones-Drew may be held out of practice until Friday.
"We'll just keep monitoring his progress," Bradley said. "It might be towards the end of the week that we'll have a better idea where he's at with that muscle strain."
Jones-Drew finished with 103 rushing yards in 14 carries and had a season-best 48-yard run against Houston. He said Monday that he wouldn't speculate on whether he felt he would be ready to play against the Bills on Sunday.
"You never know," said Jones-Drew who underwent an MRI on Friday to check on what was first thought to be a strained hamstring. "We could have a miraculous turnaround tonight. You never know, but we'll see how it goes."
Notes: The Jaguars news placed wide receiver Stephen Burton (concussion) and running back Justin Forsett (foot) on injured reserve Monday. Burton caught 8 passes for 76 yards while Forsett gained 31 yards in six carries and caught 15 passes for 82 yards in limited action for both players this season. ...Jacksonville also signed third-year running back Delone Carter to a contract on Monday. Carter, 5-foot-9, 232 pounds, has played in 26 games with three starts since he was selected in the fourth round by the Indianapolis Colts in 2011. He has 133 career rushes for 499 yards and five touchdowns along with six pass receptions for 31 yards. ... The Jaguars also signed wide receiver Chad Bumphis to the practice squad and waived wide receiver Marcus Jackson.
