JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi lawmakers have completed their part of the state budget process, passing a final batch of appropriations bills.
The overall $5.6 billion budget is for fiscal 2013, which begins July 1.
The House and Senate on Monday passed bills giving funds to the Mississippi Development Authority, the Department of Finance and Administration, and the Department of Public Safety, among others. They approved funding for other agencies this past weekend.
More than 100 budget bills are headed to Republican Gov. Phil Bryant.
Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, a Republican, says he's pleased with this year's budget, considering the money that's available.
Monday marked the deadline for appropriations and revenue bills. Work continues to finalize remaining general bills, and the four-month legislative session is set to end May 6.
