State police investigate after car strikes tree in Everett, killing driver

EVERETT, Massachusetts — State police say a 19-year-old man has died after the car he was driving struck a tree in Everett.

The crash on Route 16 at Sweetser Circle happened at about 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said Frank Vozzella of Winchester was pronounced dead after being taken to Massachusetts General Hospital after the crash.

Police said Vozzella apparently lost control of the 2005 Audi, which left the road and struck the tree.

The tree fell on to the roadway after the crash, forcing a temporary detour of traffic on to Route 99.

State police are investigating the cause of the accident.
