LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana — Megan Brown scored 14 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to spark a late surge and lead Salmen to a 56-48 win over Warren Easton in the Class 4A state championship game Saturday night.
Salmen (30-1) opened the fourth quarter with a 14-3 run after entering the quarter down three. After a Tiara Warren 3-pointer tied the game at 40-40, Brown made two more to put Salmen ahead for good.
Warren Easton (34-4) took control early with a barrage of 3-pointers and a 14-0 scoring run to take a 15-point lead midway through the second quarter.
Easton made eight 3-pointers in the half, four by Sabrina Banks.
Salmen trimmed the deficit to seven at halftime, answering Easton's run with a 14-4 outburst.
Salmen center Kalani Brown, held scoreless in the first quarter, scored seven points in the spurt. She finished with 13.
Banks led Easton with 18. Shaniqua Tobias and Kechelle Figueroa scored 12 each.
