BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Ivy Wallen had 17 points and six assists to help Lauderdale County win its 11th girls state basketball title with a 56-35 victory over Holly Pond Saturday in the Class 3A championship game.
Lauderdale County (38-0) has more state titles than any other Alabama high school program and won its third straight. The R.C. Hatch boys have 10 titles.
Wallen was the tournament MVP. Chatara Cox added 11 points with Emma Wallen and Makayla Liles each scoring eight. Liles also had a game-high 10 rebounds. Emma, Ivy and Ella Wallen are sophomore triplets for Lauderdale County.
Lauderdale County has won 45 consecutive games and set a state girls mark for most wins in a season.
Holly Pond (32-4) was led by Rachel Finley's 17 points and seven rebounds.
Ivy Wallen, Cox and Liles were on the all-tournament team. So were Holly Pond's Finley and Natasha Holcombe and Straughn's Jacie Williamson.
