Mountaineers sign Pennsylvania forward Sagaba Konate for 2016-17 season


MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins has signed a fourth recruit for the 2016-17 season.

Huggins said Friday that forward Sagaba Konate has signed a national letter-of-intent. He is a native of Mali and currently attends Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

Konate averaged more than 16 points and 10 rebounds and nearly three blocks per game as a junior.

WVU earlier signed Brandon Knapper of South Charleston High School, Chase Harler of Wheeling Central High School and Maciej Bender of Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia.

The early signing period continues through next Wednesday.
