Delaware inmate serving life term for robbery, assault dies in prison


SMYRNA, Delaware — Delaware prison officials say an inmate serving a life sentence for robbery and assault has died in prison.

Officials say 58-year-old Darius Johnson died Sunday evening in the infirmary of the Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna after a long illness.

Johnson, of Wilmington, was 24 years into a life sentence when he died.

His body has been turned over to the State Division of Forensic Science. Foul play is not suspected.
