Chelsea beats West Ham 1-0 to maintain 5-point lead in Premier League as top 5 all win

Chelsea maintained its five-point lead in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory at West Ham on Wednesday, on a night when all of the teams in top five won.

Eden Hazard scored Chelsea's first-half winner at Upton Park as the leaders came through one of their toughest remaining games.

Second-place Manchester City kept in touch by beating Leicester 2-0 through goals by David Silva and James Milner. Chelsea has a game in hand.

In the race for Champions League qualification, Manchester United left it late against Newcastle as Ashley Young scored an 89th-minute goal in a 1-0 win. United stayed a point behind third-place Arsenal, which beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1.

Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis was in a stable condition after collapsing during the team's 3-2 loss at Tottenham.
