Arizona's voter registration numbers up by nearly 17,000 since last report in April

PHOENIX — Arizona's voter registration numbers are up by nearly 17,000 since the last report in April.

The Secretary of State's Office announced Wednesday that Arizona now has more than 3.25 million registered voters.

Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan says registration numbers may continue to grow heading into next year's presidential election.

Her office says 34 percent of current registered voters around Arizona are Republicans, 28 percent are Democrats and 36 percent are independents or have not designated a party preference.

Libertarians and members of the Green party make up a little less than one percent of the state's total registration.

The Americans Elect Party has enrolled 473 voters since joining the state's other recognized political parties in 2011.
