ANNISTON, Alabama — Calhoun County sheriff's officials say a man has pleaded guilty in the death of a woman who disappeared in October 2009 and was found in December 2012.

Sheriff Larry Amerson says Jimmy Ray Steed pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder, possession of a controlled substance and manufacturing methamphetamine. Steed was charged in the death of Carla Michelle Fuqua.

Fuqua went missing from her home in October 2009. Cold case investigators found her body in a wooded area near her home. Dental records were used to identify the remains.

Details on the circumstances that led to the woman's death are unclear.
