Waterloo police arrest 37-year-old man after fatal shooting Friday night


WATERLOO, Iowa — A 37-year-old Iowa man is in custody after a fatal shooting in Waterloo.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports ( ) the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Officers found the severely injured victim outside when they arrived. The name of the victim, who died later, wasn't immediately released.

Waterloo Public Safety Director Dan Trelka says the shooting appears to be a result of an ongoing conflict between two groups of people.

The officers responding to the shooting arrested a 37-year-old man at the scene. He was being held Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder.
