Texas weathers wind, rain but no tornadoes

DALLAS — Fears of tornadoes across northern and eastern Texas failed to materialize, for the most part as wind and rain caused some minor damage but no disastrous effects.

Much of central, northern and eastern Texas spent Tuesday afternoon under a tornado watch.

Winds gusting up to almost 70 mph were reported in many areas as the storms blew through the region. But damage reported by law enforcement agencies and storm spotters to the National Weather Service was confined mainly to toppled trees and downed power lines. No injuries were reported.
