Storms to bring potential for brief tornadoes, heavy rain across Georgia

ATLANTA — Forecasters expect damaging winds of up to 60 mph as a line of strong to severe thunderstorms moves across Georgia early Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City also predicts very heavy rain of up to 3 inches and isolated, brief tornadoes.

The weather service projects that the storms will arrive in the Rome, Carrollton and Columbus areas between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday, then hit the Atlanta area between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
