LOS ANGELES — Police say a woman and two children are hospitalized in stable condition after they were struck by a vehicle on a Los Angeles sidewalk.

Sgt. Roy Escalante says the driver fell asleep before the crash Monday night in the Eagle Rock neighborhood.

Escalante says the vehicle hit a tree before striking the 55 year-old woman pushing a stroller carrying the children.

City News Service says the driver was not immediately booked, but the incident remains under investigation.
