Zenit eases into Champions League group stage by beating Standard Liege 3-0 in playoffs

Zenit St. Petersburg cruised into the Champions League group stage, beating Standard Liege 3-0 in the playoff round Tuesday on two goals by Hulk and playing with 10 men.

Ahead 1-0 from the first leg, Zenit opened the scoring on Jose Rondon's deflected header in the 30th minute. Russia's Viktor Fayzulin was sent off before half time.

Hulk scored on a penalty kick in the 54th minute after Igor Smolnikov was tripped by Jelle Van Damme. The Brazil forward struck four minutes later, brushing off defenders before scoring. Liege's Ricardo Faty was sent off in the 89th minute.

Later Tuesday, Porto was protecting a 1-0 lead over Lille, and Celtic was hosting Maribor after a 1-1 draw away.
