Chicago honors its Little League champs with rallies, parade

CHICAGO — A parade and rally worthy of national champions has come to a close in Chicago as the city celebrates the Jackie Robinson West All Stars.

The all-black team claimed the U.S. title in the Little League World Series. Thousands turned out for a rally in the city's showcase Millennium Park on Wednesday. Player Pierce Jones shouted to the crowd: "What's up, Chicago? ... We just want to say thank you for all the support.... We love you."

Kenny Williams presented Coach Darold Butler with a jersey signed by the White Sox — No. 42, Jackie Robinson's number. He promised there will be signed jerseys for the entire team.

Theo Epstein of the Chicago Cubs spoke too, telling the 13 young players: "We'll see you in the draft in about 2023."
