SPARTANBURG, South Carolina — A Woodruff man has been sentenced to prison for shooting two men to death in Spartanburg County in 2013.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports ( ) that a judge on Thursday sentenced 25-year-old Terrell Brown to 15 years in prison, followed by five years of probation.

Brown was sentenced after being found guilty of voluntary manslaughter.

Authorities said they were called to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in September 2013. Deputies said Brown was initially charged with murder and was accused of shooting 20-year-old Nahtyrien Parks and 22-year-old-old Laquinton Yeargin in the chest.

Brown testified that he shot Yeargin in self-defense and didn't know Parks had been shot until later.
