Sheriff's office: woman's body pulled from Rockingham County river; no indication of foul play


HARRISONBURG, Virginia — Authorities say the body of a Harrisonburg woman has been found in a Rockingham County river.

The Daily News-Record ( reports sheriff's deputies and local fire department crews pulled the body of 69-year-old Leigh Atkins from the North River on Tuesday.

The county sheriff's office says in a statement that farmers in the area had spotted the body.

The body was sent to a medical examiner and the investigation is continuing. The release says there was no indication of foul play.
