Storm in Kentwood injures 4-month-old twins, downs trees, utility lines

KENTWOOD, Louisiana — A quick summer storm downed several trees and utility lines, some of which fell on houses in Kentwood, sending four-month-old twins to the hospital with minor injuries.

The National Weather Service says the storm swept through the area about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Meteorologist Robert Ricks says the short-lived storm knocked over trees that landed on a house, where the infants lived. Allyce Cutrer, emergency dispatcher for the Kentwood Police Department, describes the injuries as "very minor."

Cutrer says trees also fell on a vacant house, a shed and a car and the wind and rain briefly knocked out power to the area.
