LARAMIE, Wyoming — Laramie is postponing its annual downtown holiday parade and tree lighting because of the continuing cold snap.
The event had been scheduled for Friday night, when temperatures could drop as low minus 15. With a lot of children expected, the Laramie Boomerang (http://bit.ly/1d0TRIo) says organizers decided to delay the tradition until Dec. 13.
Eight floats are scheduled to be in the parade. Mary Brown of the Downtown Laramie Business Association says she hopes the delay and the prospect of warmer weather will encourage more groups to sponsor floats next week.
High temperatures across the state are forecast to remain in the single digits through the weekend.
