WORCESTER, Massachusetts — Police say a woman has died after apparently being struck by a car on Route 190 in Worcester.

State police say they found the woman unresponsive at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the northbound side of the highway near Exit 1. She was taken to UMass Memorial Center, where she was pronounced dead.

State troopers and Worcester police followed what they said was a trail of automotive fluid from the crash scene to a home on Whitmarsh Avenue, a short distance away. The car, a sedan, was impounded.

Police say the male driver has been interviewed but no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
