Snowmass Village man gets 90 days in jail for taking city bus on drunken joyride

ASPEN, Colorado — A Snowmass Village man accused of briefly stealing a city bus, then leaving it unharmed and telling police he was too drunk to remember taking it, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.

The Aspen Daily News reported Tuesday ( ) that 58-year-old Raymond Piche also was ordered to complete a DUI court program and perform 48 hours of community service. He pleaded guilty to aggravated motor vehicle theft, a felony, and to a misdemeanor drunken-driving count.

Investigators say Piche stole the 16-passenger bus from the town depot in November and left it in a nearby parking lot. The man told officers he was playing pool that night and drank six to 10 shots of alcohol with beer chasers. He said he didn't remember taking the bus.

Later, Piche said he "probably" took the bus.
