Sacaton man sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for slashing man's face with knife


PHOENIX — A Sacaton man was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his assault conviction for punching another man and slashing his face with a knife during a fight.

Jeremy Lee Thompson had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of committing an assault that resulted in a serious injury.

In pleading guilty, Thompson acknowledged committing the assault on Feb. 28 on the Gila River Indian Community.

The victim suffered a nearly four-inch cut to the face during the attack.
