BLM's field offices in Buffalo, Casper seek volunteers for midwinter bald eagle survey

CASPER, Wyoming — The Bureau of Land Management's field offices in Buffalo and Casper are looking for volunteers to help with the midwinter bald eagle survey Jan. 10.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/175gEpR ) participants will count eagles along standard routes to identify population trends. During last year's survey, 62 volunteers counted 354 eagles throughout the Powder River Basin, including 239 bald eagles.

More than 2,390 eagles have been counted since surveys of the Powder River Basin began in 2006.

Those interested in taking part can call the Buffalo field office at 307-684-1045 or the Casper field office at 307-261-7531.
