Donaldsonville gets a new logo as it revs up marketing

DONALDSONVILLE, Louisiana — The new logo for the city of Donalsonville features images that represent its past and hopes for its future.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/10I0clo ) the logo was developed under the auspices of the nonprofit Louisiana Development Ready Cities as part of a wider marketing effort for the Ascension Parish city.

It features the city's founding year of 1806 and images of the Ascension Parish Courthouse, the Mississippi River and the sugar cane and petrochemical industries.

It also has the city's new slogan, "Respecting Our Past, Building Our Future."

The city's former logo featured a locomotive, symbolizing Donaldsonville's relationship with the railroad system passing through it.

Robyn Penn Delaney, chairwoman of the nonprofit, said the logo will be used in advertising on merchandise, city letterheads and city Internet sites.
