ROANOKE, Louisiana — State police say a Lake Arthur man died when he was ejected from a pickup then hit by an 18-wheeler in Jefferson Davis Parish

The accident happened early Wednesday on Interstate 10 just west of Roanoke.

Sgt. James Anderson says a pickup driven by 21-year-old Taylor Pellerin, of Lake Arthur, was traveling east on I-10 when the truck traveled into the median, overturned several times and causing the driver and passenger to be ejected.

Anderson says the passenger, 22-year-old Jordan K. Gatte, of Lake Arthur, landed in the westbound lanes and was struck by a passing 18-wheeler. Gatte was pronounced dead at the scene. Pellerin was flown to a Lafayette hospital with moderate injuries.
