Nimley scores career-high 39; Charleston Southern knocks off Big South-leader Radford 79-71

RADFORD, Virginia — Saah Nimley scored a career-high 39 and tied his season high with eight assists to help Charleston Southern beat Radford 79-71 on Friday night.

Nimley made 9 of 18 field goals, including 6 of 11 from 3-point range, and 15 of 16 free throws. Cedrick Bowen added 12 points and Will Saunders scored 11, knocking down 3 of 4 3-pointers, for Charleston Southern (14-9, 8-4).

Nimley scored eight and Saunders made back-to-back 3's during a 16-2 run by the Buccaneers that made it 48-40 with 13:29 remaining.

Radford scored nine of the next 11 to take a one-point lead midway through the half, but a dunk by Bowen and a jumper by Arlon Harper gave Charleston Southern the lead for good with 8:26 left.

Two free throws by Cameron Jones pulled Radford within 60-59 with five minutes to go, but the Bucs made 15 of 17 free throws from there to hold off Radford.

Javonte Green had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Highlanders (17-8, 8-4), who came into the game tied with High Point atop the Big South standings.
