California Highway Patrol says pedestrian fatally struck by big rig on Los Angeles freeway

LOS ANGELES — The California Highway Patrol says a pedestrian has been fatally struck by a big rig on a Los Angeles freeway.

The Los Angeles Times reports (http://lat.ms/1LxVrnm) the collision occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. Monday on the northbound Interstate 5 in Boyle Heights.

The CHP says a man died at the scene. Additional details were not immediately available.

A transition road was briefly closed for the investigation, backing up traffic for several miles.
