GOLDEN, Colorado — Authorities say a police impersonator stopped a woman driving in the south Denver area but left after she questioned whether he was really an officer.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said Friday the incident occurred Oct. 29.
The man pulled up behind the woman's car in a vehicle with a red flashing light but no other police markings.
The woman told deputies she became suspicious when the man told her that traffic was too heavy where she stopped and directed her to another area.
She says after she challenged the man's identity, he returned to his car and drove away.
She says the man wasn't wearing a badge, police patches or gun belt.
