Connecticut guard Omar Calhoun has 2 surgeries to alleviate hip discomfort

STORRS, Connecticut — Connecticut guard Omar Calhoun has undergone two surgeries to alleviate discomfort in his hips.

UConn spokesman Phil Chardis says doctors shaved down the some bone during procedures at the end of March and April to relieve a condition known as femoral acetabular impingement or FAI.

The school says the recovery time is expected to be between three and four months and Calhoun should be back for the start of his sophomore season.

The 6-foot-5 guard from Brooklyn, New York averaged just over 11 points per game as a freshman.
