Share/Save/Bookmark

AUGUSTA, Georgia — The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has filed new charges in what it describes as ongoing gang activity at a Georgia youth detention facility.

Four prisoners now face charges of illegal gang activity for allegedly striking a fifth detainee in the face and head as part of a gang initiation at Augusta Youth Development Campus.

Authorities say the victim, Kenneth Johnson, ended up unconscious.

The Augusta Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1qFMnoW ) reported that new charges were filed this week against 20-year-old Andre Daniels and 17-year-old Markuise Powell. They were transferred to Richmond County Jail.

Dronta Turner, who is 19, and Quintavis Robinson, who is 17, were initially charged in the case and transferred to the adult jail facility in May.
