Man shot in leg in Butte, officers still investigating

BUTTE, Montana — Police in Butte are investigating a Sunday night shooting that left an intoxicated 49-year-old man hospitalized with a bullet wound to the thigh.

Officers tell The Montana Standard ( ) the injury was not life threatening.

Butte-Silver Bow Undersheriff George Skuletich says officers interviewed a 42-year-old man suspected of firing the shot, but did not interview the victim because he was injured and intoxicated. Skuletich says officers are still trying to determine what happened.

Officers say the two men were drinking at a bar Sunday night and were involved in an argument. The 42-year-old man left the bar first and the other man left later. What happened after that is unclear. The shots were reported shortly before midnight.

No charges have been filed.
