Police investigating after skeletal remains of female found in wooded area of Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Metro Nashville police are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area of the Antioch community.

Police spokesman Don Aaron told media that detectives think the remains belong to a woman who was reported missing last fall while visiting with relatives in the Nashville area. He did not identify the woman, but said some of her belongings were found nearby.

The remains were found about 9 p.m. Monday by a woman who lives in the area.

Further information wasn't immediately available.
