Man charged with assaulting woman after nearly 5-hour standoff with Sioux Falls police

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — Authorities say a man has been charged with domestic assault after a nearly five-hour-long standoff with police at a Sioux Falls home.

Police say Grady Morris surrendered to police late Sunday night after barricading himself and a woman in a house. Homes and apartments in the area were evacuated and surrounding streets were closed.

Authorities say the incident began when neighbors allegedly witnessed Morris assaulting a woman in the front yard of a home.

Authorities say the woman sustained minor scrapes and bruises but required no medical treatment.
