Pass Christian woman suspected of embezzling several thousand dollars from business

LONG BEACH, Mississippi — Long Beach police have arrested a 46-year-old woman suspected of embezzling several thousand dollars from Hancock Auto Annex while she worked at the business.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/ZCiREX ) police arrested Lynda Marie Hancock, of Pass Christian, on Friday.

Police Chief Wayne McDowell said money started disappearing from the business Jan. 1, 2005.

McDowell says the business notified police in September and Hancock lost her job.

Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner signed an arrest warrant and set bond at $50,000.

Hancock was booked at the Harrison County jail and was released on bail.

It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
