ROCHESTER, New York — Buses are scheduled to depart early Friday morning from Rochester's new Downtown Transit Center.

Officials with the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority say the first buses will make their inaugural trip out of the $50 million terminal at 5:40 a.m.

Ground was broken on the new facility two years ago last Thursday.

The opening of the new transit center means customers can wait inside out of the weather instead of lining up along the street outside.

It also means new schedules for most routes beginning Friday.
