Shreveport father booked day after his child pronounced dead

SHREVEPORT, La. — A Shreveport man has been booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of his 23-month old daughter.

Police say the child, Aliyah West, was found unconscious and unresponsive by officers responding to a call at a Shreveport home Wednesday evening.

The child was later pronounced dead at Willis Knighton Medical Center.

An investigation by detectives and coroner's investigators led to the arrest of 37-year-old Marquice McNeil Thursday evening.
