LONG BEACH, California — Nick Faust continued his hot shooting hand, scoring 27 points to help Long Beach State edge CS Northridge 81-76 on Saturday.

Faust, the national player of the week last week after scoring 34 points against UC Santa Barbara and 28 points at Hawaii — both wins, was 7 of 13 from the field with two 3-pointers and made 11 of 12 free throws. Travis Hammons added 19 points and Gabe Levin had 12 points for the 49ers (12-12, 6-3 Big West)

CS Northridge (8-15, 3-6) was led by Kendall Smith and Michael Warren with 14 points apiece. Tavrion Dawson had 13 points and Aaron Parks added 10.

A close game throughout, the game was tied at 68 with 3:45 left on a 3-pointer by Dawson. But Faust responded with a jumper on the next possession, was fouled, and made the free throw. Long Beach State led the rest of the way.
