Harrison County grand jury clears Biloxi police officer of wrongdoing in April 1 shooting


BILOXI, Mississippi — A Harrison County grand jury has cleared a Biloxi police officer of wrongdoing in an April 1 shooting that wounded a man at a campsite in Woolmarket.

The Sun Herald reports ( the District Attorney's Office released a copy of a partial report Monday involving the shooting of Allen Douglas Hale II.

The report does not identify the officer. It was released as part of the final report of the February grand jury after it served a six-month term.

At the time of the incident, Biloxi Police Chief John Miller said officers had gone to Mazalea Campground & RV Park after receiving information that Hale, wanted on a felony warrant, was staying there.

Miller said Hale became belligerent and began to fight, and was shot and wounded.
