Northern New York man faces charges in Rochester slaying; victim found shot to death Sunday

ROCHESTER, New York — Police say they've arrested a 31-year-old northern New York man sought in the fatal shooting of a Rochester man last weekend.

Officials tell Rochester media outlets that Nicholas Bevans of Evans Mills was arrested in nearby Watertown by Rochester investigators and state police.

He's scheduled to be arraigned on a second-degree murder charge Tuesday in Rochester in the shooting death of 28-year-old Jeremey Dukes.

Police say Dukes was killed Sunday morning inside his home on the city's northeast side. His body was found later in the day after police had been called to the residence.

A motive for the slaying hasn't been released by police.

It couldn't be determined if Bevans has a lawyer yet.
